Brevard County on Tuesday put off hiring a consultant to review annual assessments for fire service after a citizen raised questions about their legality. The county attorney says the assessments are legal.

The state Department of Education has approved a waiver to the Palm Bay Community Charter's Patriot campus for class size. At the kindergarten through third-grade level, the school didn't comply and could have been fined nearly $32,000.
